A practical way to compare fabric, comfort and formality for indoor and outdoor wear in Bangkok.
Describe the day, not just the colour
Will you wear the suit mainly in an air-conditioned office, at an outdoor ceremony or while moving between the two? Tell the tailor how long you expect to wear it and how formal it needs to look. Those details make the fabric conversation more useful than asking for one universally best summer cloth.
Compare the actual swatches
Ask to handle the fabrics and compare their weight, surface, drape and how dense they feel. Discuss lining and garment construction as well: comfort depends on the finished garment, not only the fibre label. Look at your shortlisted colours beside the shirt and shoes you expect to wear.
Wool and linen: useful starting points
Woolmark explains that wool can absorb moisture vapour and is naturally breathable. The Alliance for European Flax-Linen & Hemp also describes linen’s breathability and moisture-management properties. These are reasons to discuss the fibres with a tailor, not guarantees that every wool or linen suit will feel equally cool. Weave, weight, lining and personal preference still matter.
